Dear Families,

Welcome to the 2024-25 school year! We are looking forward to working with all of our students this year and cannot wait to see everyone later this week.

Firstly, it is with mixed emotions that I announce a staffing change for the coming school year. Our Assistant Principal, Claudette Gourdeau will be moving into a new position with the CBE. Ms. Claudette's last day with us will be Friday, August 30, 2024. We are thankful for all Ms. Claudette has done to contribute to our Patrick Airlie School community, her knowledge and care has made a big impact. We wish her the very best of luck with the next chapter of her professional journey.

We will be hiring a new Assistant Principal in September but to bridge the gap I would like to welcome Rolf Haensel back in the acting AP role. Mr. Haensel is a retired CBE Principal and has supported our school in the past. We are thankful for his continued support!

As we launch a new school year I would like to welcome the following staff:

Amrit O'Neill - Kindergarten Teacher

Shannon Casey - Grade 1 / 2 Teacher

Mila Fourman - Grade 1 / 2 Teacher

Carmen Serna - Education Assistant

A reminder that the first day of classes is Thursday, August 29, 2024. Staff will be outside to meet students at 8:10am. Teachers will be reaching out via email in the next few days to introduce themselves and let you know which class your child is in and where to meet on the first day.  Kindergarten families, a reminder that your children will begin on a staggered entry schedule. If you need further information, please reach out to the school.

Bell times will continue to be Monday-Thursday, 8:20am-3:13pm and Friday, 8:20am-12pm. Families must have an adult pick up their child unless they are in an upper grade and have SIGNED permission to walk home.

Please note; we are NOT taking requests for class changes. Teachers put significant planning and consideration into class placements for all students. They have made every effort to balance the needs in each class and set students up for academic and social success.

Later this week, I will also be sharing information on the new ministerial order, from the Alberta government, regarding personal mobile devices. Please stay tuned for clarification and detail.

Our main office is now open; if you have any questions, please reach out to speak with Ms. Bawar.

All the best,

Mary-Elizabeth Kaiser
