Dear Families,

Welcome to October! September has been a busy month as we set routines and schedules for a new school year. All classes have been engaged in many learning opportunities and we are excited for the year to come! It was wonderful to see so many families at our Meet the Teacher event in September, thank you for attending this event.

At this time, I would like to share some information, reminders and upcoming dates for the month of October.

ISSP Consents

Thank you to families who completed the ISSP consent form. As ISSP is expanding to support more schools, we have found out there have been updates to the consent form. If you DID NOT complete the consent, please contact Ms. Bawar in the main office to do so. If you DID complete the form, Ms. Bawar will be in touch with you about updating the form.

Demographics Forms

Parents and guardians are asked to complete annual forms through their MyCBE account. When you log in, scroll and choose School Engage. It is very important we have up to date info. Thank you to those who have completed this, if you have not, please do ASAP.

Student Drop-off & Pick-up

A reminder to parents and guardians, our staff parking lot is off limits for drop-off and pick-up. Please use street parking and be mindful of traffic and pedestrians. Drop-off and pick-up are busy times and the safety of our students and families is very important.

Also, it is CBE policy that dogs are not permitted on school property. If you are walking your dog for drop-off or pick-up, please keep them on the sidewalk.

We appreciate your cooperation on these matters.

OurSCHOOL Survey

Our grade 4 and 5 students will be completing the OurSCHOOL Survey this week. This is done in class, with Ms. Claudette, our Assistant Principal. This survey focuses on student well-being and student’s perceptions on school and interactions with their peers.

Terry Fox Run

All students are participating in the Terry Fox Run on Friday, October 13 during class time. Ms. Halls is organizing this event and is in need of some parent volunteers. If you are able to volunteer, please contact Ms. Halls by email, ndhalls@cbe.ab.caprior to Oct 10.

Individual Program Plans

If your child has an individual program plan (IPP), teachers are working to create these documents for the 2023-2024 school year. These documents are used to create goals for student with learning, behaviour or speech diagnosis. They will be coming home for review and signature mid-October. Please make sure these are reviewed and sent back. Your voice is important on these documents, we encourage families to share their ideas and input with their child’s teacher.

Home & School Communication

Communication is important between home and school. As our teachers are in the classroom with students, they are your first point of contact when you have a question or concern. Please note, our teachers are instructing throughout the day, we ask that you give them 24 hours to respond to emails.  Administration will work with teachers to support as required, it is a team effort and we want to ensure success for all our students!  Once you reach out, help may include a scheduled meeting to discuss interventions and supports. Any questions about this, please phone the main office to ask.
